The biggest sliders

I thought the Saints got some good value with Indiana cornerback Tracy Porter at No. 40. Another Indiana player, wide receiver James Hardy, was one of my biggest sliders. He got pushed back even more because no wide receivers were taken in the first round.

And Houston's Donnie Avery was the first receiver off the board. I'm still stunned by that. Buffalo finally took Hardy a few minutes ago. He's somewhat of a project, but the Bills needed a big receiver to complement the speedy Lee Evans.

I haven't looked up for several minutes, but I think Oklahoma wideout Malcolm Kelly and Texas receiver Limas Sweed are both still available. Kelly didn't help himself with that woeful performance at his special pro day in Norman. He simply reminds too many people of Mike Williams. Not his character of course, but his lack of overall speed.

Little surprised to see Sweed fall this far. I asked Dallas Morning News draft guru when was the last time a receiver wasn't taken in the first round. He's covered about 30 of these things and couldn't remember it ever happening.

The Vikings just took Arkansas State safety Tyrell Johnson at No 43. They received the pick for the Eagles. Sorry I checked out for a little bit. Fox's Jay Glazer came over to chat for a little while. He's always nice to me in spite of the fact that I constantly record his awkward man hugs.
