I thought the Seahawks might change their strategy and go for the tight end, but they went with the best player available in USC defensive end Lawrence Jackson.
The 49ers just took the third best defensive tackle in this draft, Kentwan Balmer out of North Carolina. I know the organization really liked Gosder Cherilus, but he was long gone. I'm sure offensive line coach George Warhop was stunned to see seven offensive tackles off the board in the first round.
Packers GM Ted Thompson just traded out of the 30th pick, and the Jets are on the clock. Thompson will probably grab a third-rounder, a fifth-rounder and a seventh-rounder. As one of my editors just told me, "Teddy is a volume picker."
