Get used to hearing the Chiefs' name called this weekend. Kansas City, after its trade of Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen to Minnesota on Tuesday night, now has a league-high 13 picks in the draft. The Chiefs got a first and two third-rounders (the extra third-rounder made the deal worthwhile to the Chiefs) from Minnesota.
The Chiefs now have the No. 5, No. 17, No. 35, No. 66, No. 73 and No. 82 picks in the draft. Wow.
The Chiefs can move up essentially any time they want in this draft. It could help them secure a quarterback late in the first round if they want make a run at a Brian Brohm, Joe Flacco or a Chad Henne. Trading Allen hurts, but there's no denying the Chiefs got a lot for him. They will have plenty of flexibility this weekend because of it.
