You are going to hear a lot of the new generation of Purple People Eaters in Minnesota in the wake of the Vikings' acquisition of Jared Allen on Tuesday night.

After completing the trade for Allen, the Vikings now have the best defensive line in the NFL. Allen -- who at 25 led the NFL with 15.5 sacks last season -- is one of the premier defensive ends in the NFL. He joins Pro Bowl defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams, who are easily the best pair of defensive tackles in the NFL and the best thing going in Minnesota next to running back Adrian Peterson.

Place Allen next to the Williams Wall and this is an amazing group. The presence of the Williamses means Allen won't get double-teamed much, and if he does, they'll make sure there will be consequences.

This trade has made the Vikings a serious team to reckon with in the NFC.
