The news that St. Louis defensive back Fakhir Brown has won his appeal of a drug suspension is certainly newsworthy.

This is the second public appeal victory of a drug suspension by an NFL player in less than five months. In early December, Denver running back Travis Henry won his appeal on what would have been a year-long suspension for marijuana.

Back when Henry won his case, several league insiders thought the case could help others in the future. In February, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he didn't think Henry's case would affect future cases because the reason why Henry won his appeal was specific to the evidence involved in his appeal.

Yet, the fact that Brown won his appeal is an interesting development. The league is extremely guarded when it comes to drug cases thus the details of the Brown case are unknown. But this is clear: two players have won their appeals in less than five months and before the Henry case it was unheard of.
