The Carolina Panthers were supposed to open their preseason schedule against the New York Giants at home Aug. 9. But scheduling conflicts made that impossible.

The NFL announced Thursday the Giants now will visit Detroit on Aug. 7. In place of the Giants, the Panthers will get to open their preseason against the previous Super Bowl champions. Carolina will host Indianapolis Aug. 9 at Bank of America Stadium.
