Since I've received numerous emails (3) this morning regarding Tony Romo's alleged wedding to Jessica Simpson, allow me to quickly address the topic. The Arizona Republic's Web site is reporting that Simpson's mother, Tina, announced that the couple had married as she and her daughter walked out of a Chili's restaurant in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
This begs the obvious question, "Why the hell are Jessica Simpson and her mom eating at Chili's?" Not that there's anything wrong with Chili's. Love the skillet queso! It just sounded strange. You expect Tina and Jess to come walking out of The Ivy or perhaps the Mondrian, which features some of the nicest lawn furniture in America.
Anyway, a reporter who'd just finished up a Chili's Oldtimer Burger asked Tina Simpson when her daughter was planning to pop the question.
"Jessica is already married to Tony. What are you talking about?" gushed Tina.
A giggling Jessica didn't dispute her mother's revelation and TMZ.com was off and running. As a public service to readers, I called one of Tony's closest friends to check out the report.
He assures Hashmarks that Jessica and her mother were only kidding. I'm told that Tony fired a 73 in some amateur golf tournament in Charleston, S.C., yesterday.
