The Playmaker: Favre tried to break my fingers

March 4, 2008 4:18 PM

I just checked in with Cowboys Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin to see whether he had any fond memories of Packers quarterback Brett Favre. The Playmaker said he'll never forget a Pro Bowl practice with Favre in the early '90s.

"It was his first pass of the day and I was supposed to run a slant," Irvin said. "I heard the ball coming when it left his hand [Irvin provided dramatic sound effects at this point]. It made this sound like I've never heard before all the way to me, so I stopped and just watched it go right on by."

Irvin said Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman immediately walked over to him after the play.

"You have to let that stuff go," he told Irvin. "I think he may be trying to break your fingers."

Much, much more to come, folks. I'm holing up at a local Starbucks and will be blogging the rest of the afternoon.
