Three days ago, the Detroit Lions sent out a standard press release with a headline reading, "Detroit Lions announce 2008 season ticket prices."

Minutes ago, the team sent out a release with the headline, "Lions officially announce trade with Cleveland."

The additional officialness is appreciated after the team unofficially confirmed to some reporters an expected trade with Cincinnati involving defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, who later learned the deal would collapse. Rogers wound up going to Cleveland, as the release makes clear:

"The Detroit Lions officially announced today that they have acquired Cleveland Browns CB Leigh Bodden and the Browns 2008 third-round draft choice in exchange for DT Shaun Rogers. With today's transaction, Detroit now holds the 13th (76th overall) and 24th (87th overall) choices in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

I think we can go ahead and report this now. Officially.

Free agency, Shaun Rogers, Lions, Browns, Leigh Bodden, trades
