  • Newsday's Wallace Matthews agrees with Hank Steinbrenner's recent comments about Congress having a double standard when it comes to steroid use in football. And while I agree with some of his points, he's fighting a losing battle. We're simply not wired to think about steroid abuse in football and baseball in the same way. And the fact that the NFL has been more vigilant with its testing policies has caused Congress to look the other way.
  • Nancy Gay of the San Francisco Chronicle says Cal receiver DeSean Jackson can't afford any missteps in Indy this week. Also some discussion of the 49ers trade with the Patriots during last year's draft.
  • When Deion Sanders ran a sub-4.2 40-yard dash at the 1989 combine, there were no TV cameras in sight. Now, the NFL Network will offer 26 hours of live coverage.
  • Dan Pompeii reports that Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan has come across as a "jackass" in interviews.
  • Our buddies at the Mile High Report do a really nice job of explaining what happens during the combine.
  • Drew Rosenhaus said he'll be talking to the Cowboys about a long-term extension for Marion Barber this week.
  • OK, I'm off to Indianapolis. Do you guys think I'll need reservations at St. Elmo's tomorrow night? I'll catch up with you guys in the morning.
