Phillips and the hot seat

Albert Breer down in Dallas wonders why Wade Phillips wasn't mentioned as one of the coaches on the hot seat entering next season. I think it is a good question.

The head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is on the hot seat almost by definition as long as Jerry Jones is keeping a close watch, and as long as the franchise hasn't won a playoff game in more than a decade.

But when a coach goes 13-3 with one playoff disappointment, I have a hard time putting him in the same category as guys who have failed to win in the playoffs season after season. No question, whoever coaches that team will feel some heat until he experiences playoff success.

Wade Phillips
