The Cowboys held Terrell Owens out of practice today, and if you believe head coach Wade Phillips (I don't), the receiver may not have even been on the Valley Ranch campus today.
"It's day-to-day, but we're going through a plan or process that's going to try and get him ready, and he's adhered to that," Phillips said. "He works out at home all the time trying to get better. This is sometimes a 6-8 week injury, sometimes it's a four-week injury. So we're trying to get him back in there. That's where we are."
During his Wednesday news conference, Phillips said he hadn't bumped into Owens. On Monday, Phillips said T.O. didn't practice, although a few of his teammates said he did.
"If he's ready to go, and I feel like he could play without hurting himself, yeah, I would play him," Phillips said. "But we don't know until we get there."
Phillips has also said his coaches will come up with a contingency game plan in case T.O.'s not ready to go. From the people I've talked to, the coaches haven't gotten started on the non-T.O. plan.
Is he hurt? You bet he is. But there's no way he misses the game. Wade's playing games with this injury, and if he thinks that's best for his team, more power to him.
