The role lame questions play in lame answers

Bill Belichick takes some heat for offering boring answers during press conferences, but sometimes the answers are only as good as the questions. I've noticed that Belichick gives some very good answers to thoughtful questions, even if he's going to dodge certain topics altogether.

A colleague and I were laughing about this over dinner last night. Imagine what would happen if a political reporter asked an ambassador something along the lines of, "Could you talk about foreign policy?" Or if a financial writer asked the treasury secretary if he could "talk about the economy." Or if a war reporter asked the president to "talk about Iraq." You would never hear questions that lame in those settings, but you hear their equivalents all the time in sports settings. "Coach, could you talk about Wes Welker?" Well, yeah, I could, if you would ask an actual question about him!

If you've heard worse questions posed by reporters, please share them in the comments. I'll jot down a few of the worst clunkers throughout the course of the remaining press conferences. In the meantime, could you talk about football?
