Yes, I know New Orleans is playing the Falcons, but I think there may be something to this. Sean Payton has spent so much time trying to design plays for running back Reggie Bush that his offense has suffered.
The Saints feel like they have to justify spending the No. 2 overall pick on Bush even though he's looking more and more like a bust all the time. As we talked about earlier, Payton finally came out and criticized Bush a little bit this week, saying it wasn't just the knee that was causing the running back to drop passes and fumble the ball.
Drew Brees has looked incredibly comfortable tonight. And quite honestly, Aaron Stecker is a much better inside rusher. There, I've convinced myself. The Saints have a much better shot at sneaking into the playoffs now that Bush is likely out for the season.
And that's why it's funny to hear reports of how they want him to fight through the injury. Put the man on IR and go win some games. I'm planning to visit with the Saints GM after the game, so I'll let you know if I hear anything.
