Chargers All Over Grossman Early

September 9, 2007 4:49 PM

The Chargers defensive game plan is pretty obvious: Get in Rex Grossman's face on every play. Even when he had time on that last possession, he tried to throw the ball too hard and it sailed on him.

From what I can tell, the Chargers' defensive line is moving around just before the snap. On Grossman's last incompletion, both the left end and nose tackle stunted, allowing linebacker Shawne Merriman to come free.

Bears safety Mike Brown had an easy interception a minute ago. Phillip Rivers threw it in the general direction of Antonio Gates, but it was a horrible pass.

And I'm not sure anyone in the league does as good a job on interception returns as Brown. He's not the fastest guy, but he does a great job taking advantage of all the confusion.

Scoreless after one quarter in San Diego.

Mike Brown, Shawne Merriman, Rex Grossman
