Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler made some costly mistakes against the Bills today, but he came up huge on a late drive. Facing third-and-23 from his 21-yard line with less than two minutes left, Cutler found Javon Walker for a 21-yard gain. He then ran for a first down on fourth-and-2. He converted another fourth-and-2 later in the drive on a pass to Walker.
Cutler finished the day 23-of-39 with a touchdown and an interception, but that late drive could be a huge confidence booster for him. Also a big day for running back Travis Henry, who had 23 carries for 139 yards.
Pretty nice debut for Bills running back Marshawn Lynch with 19 carries for 90 yards, but quarterback J.P. Losman never got anything going against a Broncos defense that looked vulnerable during the preseason. Losman had an interception and a fumble.
Broncos kicker Jason Elam had missed two field goals before nailing the game-winner for 42 yards. OK, I'm going to watch this Bears-Chargers game for a little while.
