The Giants activated defensive end Michael Strahan to the 53-man roster earlier today, and he doesn't sound like a man who wants to ease his way back into the rotation.
"I'd rather get on the field and stay out there," Strahan told ESPN's Ed Werder at the team hotel this afternoon. "Running on and off the field would probably tire me out more than just staying in the game."
Strahan doesn't know if he'll start the game, but he will definitely play. New defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has been excited about the development of third-year defensive end Justin Tuck, who has started at left end in Strahan's absence. The Giants could start Tuck, and then use Strahan as a pass-rushing specialist.
Ed also visited with head coach Tom Coughlin and quarterback Eli Manning, who talked about starting running back Brandon Jacobs.
"I'm really comfortable with him in pass protection," Manning said. "He's not the type of guy who gets pushed back at my feet."
You know I would never try to read too much into a quote, but that sounds a lot like another shot at NBC's Tiki Barber.
