Wednesday Morning Hash

  • Hash chief correspondent Ed Werder is reporting that 49ers quarterback Alex Smith could opt for season-ending surgery depending on how his visit with famed surgeon Dr. James Andrews goes. Is it just me or has Ed broken a ton of stories lately?
  • Is there anything else we can blame on Norv Turner this morning? Would this Cowboys team be winless under Norv?
  • Lions DE draws a crowd after three-sack binge at end of Bears game.
  • Jags left tackle Khalif Barnes tried taking a new route to work Saturday morning, and things didn't quite work out.
  • Boston Herald writer says Tom Brady and Randy Moss are more entertaining than "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars."
  • Mark Cannizzaro says in the Post that Jets haven't panicked yet. Apparently he's not talking to the same fans I am.
  • Paul Schwartz tracks down an old Giants coach to discuss the team's rivalry with the Jets. Don't say it doesn't mean something.
  • Congrats to new father Lance Briggs. Now, we just need to finalize a payment plan.

Asked about his recent statement on tipping, Williams said, "It was the pizza guy. I'm not saying I don't tip waitresses or anything else. I mean we're talking about the pizza guy who hands me the pizza and I give him the money. The ironic thing Saturday night I'm heading to the hotel and I stop at a light I never have to stop at, and it was red. And guess who pulls up next to me? Pizza Hut man. I roll my window down, and I say, 'Pizza dude, how much am I supposed to tip you?' He said 'Three, four maybe five dollars.' And I said, 'Thank you.' So now I see it's three, four maybe five dollars and I'm going to start tipping the pizza man."

Someone get this man a humanitarian award.

  • Any writer who works "genome mapping" into a story about a single pass thrown by Matt Leinart deserves some Hash. We'll wait and see if Matt thinks he was taken out of context.
