In what is becoming a disturbing trend among professional athletes, Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson was robbed at gunpoint in his home Saturday night. According to the Houston Chronicle, two men entered Robinson's Fort Bend County home shortly before 8 p.m., bound him with duct tape and then made off with several pieces of jewelry.
Both men were wearing Dodgers caps, and they had bandanas covering their faces. Ironically, I spent about 45 minutes talking to Robinson about his obsession with shopping a few weeks ago. He told me he spent an average of $2,500 a week on shoes alone.
He hasn't spoken to anyone about the incident, so I'll give him a call this evening. The robbery comes on the heels of two similar crimes involving NBA players.
New York Knicks forward Eddy Curry, his wife and an employee were robbed by masked gunmen at Curry's surburban Chicaco mansion in July. Two other men have been charged in the armed robbery of Miami forward Antoine Walker at his Chicago townhouse.
It's hard to say if these are copycat crimes, but I wouldn't rule it out. If you're a professional athlete/blogger, now might be a good time to spend a few extra bucks on security.
Let me also suggest a chocolate Lab. In addition to terrifying small children, Trooper is responsible for breaking up at least two burglaries in our neighborhood.
"Tuesdays with Mosley" begins in 45 minutes, so I have to hit the road. For more late-breaking NFL information, check back later this evening.
