After months and months of speculation, the NFL's supplemental draft has come and gone.
The Chargers took Georgia cornerback Paul Oliver in the fourth round, and the Ravens selected Maryland offensive tackle Jared Gaither in the fifth.
Nebraska offensive tackle Chris Patrick did not get drafted, and I'm sure the veil of secrecy around his circumstances didn't help things.
At least one longtime member of the Chargers organization was caught off guard by Oliver's selection. He was supposed to be one of the top cornerbacks in the nation heading into the 2007 season, but he posted a slow 40-yard dash time at his recent workout.
When you hear about a cornerback running a 4.6, you normally look in a different direction.
Gaither worked out hard over the past month, but teams were still leary of him. His body type reminds the Ravens of the great Jonathan Ogden, but at this point, he's nothing more than a project.
In unrelated news, has anyone ever had an alarm go off on their Dell Latitude? I'm having some major issues.
