Parade Route for Samuel Still a Secret

After reading this interview, I'm not sure Patriots cornerback Ellis Hobbs is thrilled about Asante Samuel's return. In case you missed it, Samuel finally showed up at Gillette Stadium this morning.

Asked whether he'd spoken to Samuel, Hobbs said, "Yeah, I saw him this morning. I said, 'What's up?' to him. Nothing different man. We're not going to throw a parade or anything like that. It's business. The business side is over with obviously. Now it's time to get down to the real business on the field and that's trying to win ball games."

Later, the affable Bill Belichick echoed some of Hobbs' thoughts during his morning news conference. It's scary how much he sounds like his old mentor, Bill Parcells, at times. But a Parcells news conference could be pretty entertaining at times. I don't get the feeling Patriots beat writers would say that about Belichick.

So what does Samuel's return mean? Well, it obviously provides the Patriots with more depth, which could allow first-round draft choice Brandon Meriweather to see more time at safety. The Patriots will also have to see how significant safey Eugene Wilson's injury was in Friday's preseason game against Carolina.
