T.O. Sues New York Nightclub

Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens has filed a $600,000 lawsuit against a New York nightclub for using his name and likeness without permission.

Friends tipped him off that he was supposed to be hosting parties at a club called Avalon, a place he claims to be unfamiliar with.

"I'm not trying to knock what these promoters are doing," Owens told The Dallas Morning News on Monday. "But there's a way to do it."

Owens is seeking at least $100,000 in compensatory damages and at least $500,000 in punitive damages. I'm assuming the $500,000 is for the emotional distress caused by not being invited to his own party.

Avalon could make this thing go away quickly by actually notifying Owens the next time he's hosting a party and then paying him a large appearance fee.

The truth is that clubs do this type of thing all the time.

During Super Bowl week in Detroit, Snoop was supposedly hosting like 13 parties every night. Promoters usually get away with the false advertising, so it will be interesting to see if T.O. is successful in his claim.

And next time you're in New York, check out the "whimsical" Fantasy Room at Avalon. If T.O. has his way, you may not have many more opportunities.

Snoop, T.O.
