O.J.'s book off Hashmarks Summer Reading List

June 14, 2007 12:07 PM

I've been overwhelmed by your literacy. At last count, I had more than 200 recommendations for our summer reading list, which will be unveiled at Lake Highlands' White Rock Coffee next Wednesday if I can convince the owners to turn down The Fray's "How to save a life," which plays on a continuous loop.

Sadly, I've decided to leave O.J. Simpson's timeless classic, "If I Did It", off the list. The book, which never made it to bookstores, is part of an ongoing court battle between Simpson and Ronald Goldman's family. The Goldmans won a $38 million civil judgment in a wrongful death lawsuilt and would eventually like to see some of it.

The family is attempting to gain control of the book and change the title to "Confessions of a Double Murderer."

OK, I have a flight that leaves for Newark in a little more than a hour. I should probably go.

O.J. Simpson, The Fray
