Beaird, who was ineligible a year ago, knocked down 21 points in the fourth quarter and finished with a whopping 47 for the contest.
Richard Boston and Wesley Hanspard (Oakland Tech): This duo, which orchestrated an upset of De La Salle of Concord earlier this season to pin the Spartans with their only loss, almost duplicated the feat against McClymonds (Oakland) in a 56-54 loss at home. Boston, a lightning-quick guard with excellent range, and who can stop on a dime had a game-high 22 points including 4 of 6 from three-point range. Brian Daniel (El Sobrante, Christian): The last time he made stat stars he scored a bundle and his team lost. This time the 6-foot junior threw down a season-high 41 points, but you guessed it, his team lost 61-55 to Pleasant Hill Adventist.
Peter DeFilipps (Menlo-Atherton, Atherton): Took control down the stretch and finished with 26 points to help the Bears avenge a loss to Woodside with a 64-52 victory.

Austin Deloach (Escondido Charter): Although Escondido Charter is battling to finish above .500, Deloach is having a strong season as the 6-footer's 36-point effort against St. Joseph Academy attests. The Tigers won the Frontier League game, 83-29.
Josh Elms (Mountain Empire, Pine Valley): A 6-foot-3 senior, Elms broke loose for 49 points and Mountain Empire needed every one of them in an 84-75 win over Lutheran (San Diego) in Citrus South play.

Scott Harrison (Hayfork): Checking in from way up in the Northern Section is Harrison who had a season high 29 points, with 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals in a 64-52 victory against Redding Adventist of Redding.
Mark Hills (University City, San Diego): Hills was the big difference with 36 points as the Centurions swept past Cathedral Catholic (San Diego), 63-54, in a Western League showdown.
Jordan Hiroshima (Torrance): Hiroshima was unstoppable with eight long-range three-point field goals for all 24 of his points, but it wasn't enough as Torrance dropped a 63-61 overtime Pioneer League game to Centennial (Compton).
Earl Jefferson (Barstow): The 2007-08 Desert Sky League player of the year showed he hasn't lost his touch, as he scored 35 points to lead Barstow to a 63-60 win over Granite Hills (Apple Valley).
Brian Kuklok (Poway): Part of an outstanding brother-sister act, the 6-3 senior's 32 points led the Titans to a 70-61 Palomar League win over Rancho Buena Vista (Vista).

PPG average Last week he went for 19, 19 and 24 points in three respective wins over Heritage College-Ready Prep of Los Angeles, Camino Nuevo of Los Angeles and Port of Los Angeles of San Pedro.
Peter Pappageorge (Burlingame): Continued his solid play in leading the Panthers to their 15th and 16th consecutive wins with 20 and 22 points against Aragon (San Mateo) and San Mateo respectively.
Alex Perez (Otay Ranch, Chula Vista): Just a sophomore, the 6-1 Perez tossed in 36 points in a 70-49 romp over Hilltop (Chula Vista) in a Mesa League battle.
Donnell Phifer (Narbonne, Harbor City): Phifer scored 36 points as Narbonne raced past King-Drew in the Marine League finale.
Deon Randall (Francis Parker, San Diego): The early, early Small School football Player of the Year candidate for 2009 is making a big impression on the basketball court, too, as he scored a season-high 35 points to lift the Lancers to a 72-55 win over Canyon Crest (San Diego) in the Coastal South League.
Reeves Nelson (Modesto Christian): Hopefully, the goofy stuff is now behind Reeves. He returned from a five-day school suspension last week and had 36 points in a 96-65 romp by the Crusaders over Ripon.
Raphael Rodriguez (Army-Navy, Carlsbad): There are many who believe the Warriors will be a strong San Diego Section Division IV playoff team and the stepped-up play of Rodriguez, who scored 36 points in a crucial 69-62 Coastal North win over Calvin Christian (Escondido), is one of the reasons.
Rafa Rojas-Reyes (Brawley): Picking up his game as the playoffs approach, Rojas-Reyes started the week with a 28-point, 11-rebound game that wasn't quite enough in an Imperial Valley League loss to Southwest (El Centro), 59-43. But his 34 points and 15 boards led Brawley to a 76-69 non-league victory over Imperial three days later.
Kintin Scott (Silverado, Victorville): Scott's jump shot at the buzzer not only gave him 30 points for the game, it lifted the Hawks to a 78-76 overtime win over Granite Hills (Apple Valley) to clinch the Desert Sky League crown.
Renardo Sidney (Fairfax, Los Angeles): Just another 38-point game for the 6-10 center who may be the most sought-after non-signee remaining in the nation. His points helped the Lions avert an upset against Palisades (Pacific Palisades), 84-83.
Nick Staub (Tulelake): We missed this 6-footer a couple of weeks ago but when you're from the far reaches of Siskiyou County, five miles from the Oregon border, it takes time for word to reach down south. Previously he went for 32 and 35 points against Butte Valley (Dorris) and Dunsmuir respectively. Last week he had 22 points in a win against Big Valley.
Michael Snaer (Rancho Verde, Moreno Valley): Single-handedly outscored Valley View (Moreno Valley) with 40 points to lead Rancho Verde to a 78-38 win in Inland Valley League play.

Travis Wear (Mater Dei, Santa Ana): The North Carolina signee scored a career-high 34 points to the top-ranked Monarchs to a 97-71 win over Lutheran (Orange) in Trinity League play. It was a 26-0 regular season and 20th consecutive league crown for Mater Dei.
Stuart Wesonga (San Marin, Novato): A new star is rising in the Marin County Athletic League and it's this 6-6 sophomore whose British Guyanan-born mom tells CalHiSports.com, she's raising her son and another sibling from their Kenyan father on her own. "A little like Obama, but not quite,” she said with a chuckle after her son had almost single-handedly knocked Marin Catholic (Kentfield) from the playoffs for the first time in 17 years after going for 16 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks in a 46-45 play-in game victory to decide the MCAL's final playoff spot. Mom was smiling even brighter after Wesonga destroyed Redwood in the opening game of the playoffs after a 31 point, 23 rebound, five steal and three block performance to lead the Mustangs to their first playoff win in 16 seasons after a 63-59 double-overtime victory at Larkspur.
Jesse Williams (Ukiah): With CalHiSports.com in the house, this 6-5 solidly built senior power forward, whose had a few college looks according to longtime Ukiah Coach Bill Heath, did all he could to keep Cardinal Newman from remaining undefeated but it wasn't enough in an 80-64 loss on the road. His line was 34 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Carissa Best (Firebaugh): She scored a career high 31 points against
Tranquillity in a West Sierra League game. The Eagles won by 81-46.

Gennifer Brandon (Chatsworth): Not even swollen, itchy eyes could keep this 6-3 Cal-bound forward from finding the basket in a 51-40 victory over Taft that avenges a loss earlier this season. She scored all 13 of her team's points in the fourth quarter and finished with 24 points and 19 rebounds.
Kelsey Brockway (Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates): Brockway was dominant inside as she tore down 18 rebounds to go with 13 points in a 49-22 victory over North Torrance in a Bay League game.
Katie Brooks and Hilary Landa (Oaks Christian, Westlake Village): This duo led Oaks Christian to a decisive 60-30 victory over Fillmore last week to claim its first outright Tri-Valley League championship. Brooks had 23 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks to lead the way, but it was the outside shooting of Landa that set the tone, stretching the defense and creating room inside for Brooks to take advantage. She had 11 of her 16 points in the first quarter, including two 3-pointers and finished with four baskets from beyond the arc.
Kody Burke (Notre Dame, Sherman Oaks): Scored 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Knights survived to win 47-43 over Alemany (Mission Hills) to win the Mission League after nearly blowing a 23-point third quarter lead.
Katie Chapman (Marywood, Palm Valley): Dominated the boards by pulling down 15 rebounds and scoring seven points, Chapman's Firebirds beat Temecula Prep, 36-26, in Majestic League play.
Layshia Clarendon (Cajon, San Bernardino): Another triple-double by Clarendon led Cajon to a perfect record in the San Andrea League. She scored 26 points, collected 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the 87-37 victory over San Bernardino.
Courtney Fisher (Vallejo): She's still the reported scoring leader for the
CIF Sac-Joaquin Section despite her team's struggles. Last week, in a 74-54 loss to Rodriguez of Fairfield, Fisher scored 30 points and upped her scoring average to 22.6 per game.
Kiara Gamble (Desert Christian, Cathedral City): Although she scored just nine points, five came in the final 18 seconds as Gamble's three-pointer set up her rebound put-back at the buzzer to give the Conquerers a 51-50 victory over Mesa Grande (Calimesa), snapping Mesa Grande's 52-game Victory League winning streak.
Shelley and Margeaux Gupilan (Bellarmine-Jefferson, Burbank): The Gupilan cousins continue to lead the 26-1 Guards, the CalHiSports.com top-ranked Division V team in the state. In a 63-50 victory over St. Mary's Academy (Los Angeles) that secured the Santa Cruz League title outright, Shelley had 12 of her 26 points in the third quarter, outscoring St. Mary's by herself, and Margeaux contributed seven of her 18 points in the fourth, as the Guards outscored the Belles 42-24 in the second half.
Sandra Gutierrez (El Monte): The junior did a little of everything, amassing 14 rebounds to go with 14 points and eight blocked shots to help the Lions beat Mountain View (El Monte), 41-38, in Mission Valley League action.
Lauren Holiday (Campbell Hall, North Hollywood): The boys' team has gotten most of the ink but if this freshman forward continues her stellar play, look for the 21-1 girls, ranked No. 10 in CalHiSports.com's Division IV state rankings to make some noise in the playoffs. So far this season she's averaging 17 points and nine rebounds a game. Last week in a 60-39 victory over Village Christian she had 21 points and 24 rebounds to help the Hall clinch its first Alpha League title since changing leagues in 2007.
Kim Iverson (Christian Life, Escondido): The Knights' flashy Iverson pitched in another 34 points and her teammates held the San Diego Jewish Academy to just five second half points in a 75-22 Citrus West League game.
Ashleigh King (Kearny, San Diego): King, a play-making junior guard, single-handedly led the Komets past Christian (El Cajon), 66-28, scoring 32 points in San Diego City's Central League.
Kristan Liddle (Irvine): Collecting more rebounds (17) than points (15), Liddle was the driving force as the Vaqueros to roll past Corona del Mar, 57-37, in the Pacific Coast League.
Jasmine Lister (Santiago, Corona): Not a bad week as Lister's 31 points helped Santiago clinch the Big VIII title with a 67-47 victory over Centennial (Corona) before pitching in 26 points in a 68-39 win over Corona.
Chante Miles (Carson): Miles' 16 points matched the number of years since the Colts were able to dominate former City and state power Narbonne (Harbor City) as Carson won the Marine League game, 52-39.
Danielle Mauldin (St. Mary's, Berkeley): The 5-11 junior power forward had a big week in leading the top Division VI team in Northern California and No. 3 in the state to two solid Bay Shore League victories. In a 65-55 victory over Encinal (Alameda) that sewed up the league title Mauldin mauled the Jets with 29 points 21 rebounds and four blocks. In limited action later in the week against St. Joseph Notre Dame in a 69-44 thumping, she had 19 points 13 rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Cassie Pappas (Crescenta Valley, La Crescenta): Had a game-high 25 points to lead the Falcons to their fourth straight victory in a 52-47 overtime victory against Burbank.
Wendy Perkins (Excelsior, Apple Valley): A nifty triple-double of 16 rebounds, 12 points and 10 steals led the way as the Eagles beat Joshua Springs, 29-26, in Agape League play.
Taylia Radford (St. Mary's Academy, Inglewood): Even with the 25 rebounds by Radford, St. Mary's Academy could not hang with Bell-Jeff (Burbank), the state's No. 1 Division V team, 63-50.
Jasmine Rutledge (Mira Costa, Manhattan Beach): Rutledge did all she could do in snagging 18 rebounds and scoring 16 points, but it wasn't enough as red-hot Inglewood prepped for the playoffs with a 54-43 non-league win.
Janae Sharpe (Rialto): Sharpe lived up to her name with a rare quadruple-double of 31 points, 12 steals, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as Rialto downed Carter (Rialto) 73-34 in a Citrus Belt League game.
Jackie Shepard (Menlo School, Atherton): Some gigantic numbers for this senior star who plays for former Stanford and NFL quarterback John Paye, the 1982 CalHiSports first-team all-state quarterback from Menlo. Her exploits were highlighted in emails from John Reid of the Palo Alto Daily News. Last week in the Knights first game, Shepard was under her 24.6 PPG average with 22 points in a 58-51 win against Mercy of Burlingame. Then, she turned ICA (San Francisco) into her personal shooting gallery with a 51-point performance, believed to be the season-high in the state this year, and according to Reid, possibly the most ever in a CCS contest. This week, she came back with 38 more in a first-round league playoff game, tallied against the same ICA squad. "Shepard would lead the nation in scoring if she played ICA every game,” said Reid in an email. "I'm going to watch her Thursday at Castilleja (Palo Alto) to see what she does against them.” I'm sure we'll get a report from John for next week's feature.
Alex Shew (Porterville): Leading her team with 30 points against Tulare, the Panthers won a close game 60-59 in the East Yosemite League. She also became the ninth player in school history to score over 1,000 points in a career.
Krishawn Tennies (Ayala, Chino Hills): By scoring a career-high 26 points, Tennies led Ayala to its 13th straight Sierra League title with a 77-34 win over Glendora. It was the 10th time in that span that Ayala has gone undefeated.
Katie Veit (Burroughs, Ridgecrest): Swept down 17 rebounds to go with a like number of points but the Burros came up short 52-44 against Silverado (Victorville) in Desert Sky League action.
Amanda Vialpando (Notre Dame, Riverside): Finished off the season in a big way as Vialpando was credited with 32 points to help Notre Dame to a 66-24 rout of Rubidoux in Mountain Pass League action.
Tiana Wightman (Pacific Lutheran, Torrance): Wightman had more rebounds (25) and points (20) than Summit View Valley (Valley Glen) had points in the Mulholland League finale, 52-19.
Grace Williams (Cate, Carpinteria): Williams' 15 rebounds allowed Cate to limit the number of shots Laguna Blanca took and her 11 points helped the Rams record a 43-37 Condor League victory.
