Chris Avila & Arias Carter (Santa Ana): Avila completed 12 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns as the Saints defeated Ocean View of Huntington Beach, 40-36. Carter caught just three passes but they were all for touchdowns that covered a total of 229 yards.
Matt Banahan (Amador Valley, Pleasanton): The senior defensive back came up with four big plays and two TDs to show for his work in a 35-16 road victory at Danville San Ramon Valley. His first big one was a 52-yard punt return for a TD that gave Amador Valley a 21-16 lead it never relinquished. Then, on the last play of the first half, he intercepted a pass. Oddly, on the first play from scrimmage in the second half, Banahan had an interception giving him interceptions on consecutive plays from scrimmage. The second one, he returned 28 yards for a touchdown. He had a third interception on the Wolverines ensuing drive.
DeShawn Beck (Jordan, Los Angeles): Do-it-all performer was at it again in last week's 13-12 victory over Bell. He completed 16 of 27 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown while carrying the ball 14 times for 178 yards and another score. So far this season, Beck has rushed for 1,530 yards and seven touchdowns and passed for 785 yards and five more scores. Patrick Wooten, arguably the top freshman in the state last season, added nine solo tackles, five assists and an interception.
Damien Bell (Lawndale): His 70-yard touchdown reception put away Torrance as Lawndale went on to a 49-31 victory. Bell finished with 349 all-purpose yards, including a 93-yard kickoff return He also rushed for three touchdowns and 186 yards on nine carries.
Bryan Bennett (Crespi, Encino): Because of a good all-around performance by Bennett, it took a clutch 51-yard field goal by Notre Dame kicker Eric Solis to beat the hard-lucked Celts, 23-21. He passed for 302 yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort and hit pay dirt once on the ground. According to Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times, he also turned in a fine performance as a defensive back.
Anthony Binford (Valley Christian, Sun Valley): Racked up five sacks in a 49-12 Olympic League victory over L.A. Baptist.
Tra'Mayne Bondurant (Fairfield): In an impressive 46-14 win over Napa, Bondurant threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 167 yards and two more scores. It's the fourth time this season he's rushed and passed for more than 100 yards in the same game. In the process, according to Paul Farmer of the Fairfield Daily Republic, he broke the Fairfield city record for total offense in a season with 2,530 yards, passing in eight games the 2,489 Rodriguez's Myles King amassed in 12 games in 2008.
T.J. Braff (Palo Alto): In his third game starting at quarterback for the injured Christof Bono, the 6-4 175-pound junior came through big time in a 34-12 victory over Los Gatos. His 254 yards passing on 12 of 17 with three TDs, plus one score rushing gives Coach Earl Hansen's boys sole possession of first place in the De Anza League.
Demetrius Brown-Ryan (St. Mary's, Berkeley): Makes another appearance in this feature after rushing for 285 yards on 24 carries with two TDs in a 42-7 victory over Crockett Jon Swett.
Michael Bundy & Hunter Hovland (El Segundo): Bundy capped a 12-play, 99-yard drive with a 13-yard touchdown reception to Hovland to cap a 28-21 Pioneer League victory over North Torrance. Gundo junior Grant Palmer might have made the game's biggest play when he kept the game-wining drive alive with a eight-yard gain on fourth down after dropping back to punt. Bundy finished with 413 yards passing and three touchdowns. Hovland is the son of former beach volleyball standout and Westchester of Los Angeles three-sport stud Tim Hovland.
Isaiah Burse (Modesto Christian): It's been said plenty of times but he does it all on the field, as the Crusaders remained undefeated with a 65-0 win over Hughson. Burse was 5 of 6 passing the ball for 144 yards and three touchdowns, rushed the ball 12 times for 202 yards and two touchdowns, and intercepted a pass while on defense and returned it 52 yards for six points.
Bobby Burton (Tamalpais, Mill Valley): One of the biggest reasons the Red-tailed Hawks are 6-2 and beat arch-rival Larkspur Redwood for the first time since 1997 is because of this senior running back. Last Saturday against the Giants, he rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-21 victory.
Josh Byington (Dixon): Made quite the impact on both sides of the ball for the Rams against Foothill of Sacramento, as he intercepted three passes and returned one 61 yards for a touchdown in a 41-20 victory. He also scored twice on offense running the ball.
Jesse Callier & Bailey Cowins (Warren, Downey): Callier, an all-state candidate, rushed for 289 yards and five touchdowns while wideout Cowins added two touchdowns receiving in the Bears' 49-24 victory over Paramount. Behind the performance of its two big guns, Warren took sole possession of first place in the San Gabriel Valley League. With his performance, Callier passed the 2,000-yard mark and he already has scored 29 touchdowns.
Amir Carlisle (Kings Academy, Sunnyvale): Stanford-bound running back rushed for 253 yards and three TDs, but his Knights fell 35-21 to Pacifica Terra Nova.
Cody Christopher (Mariposa): Wins have been hard to come by this season for the Grizzlies but led by Cody's running they picked up their third win of the season, 56-18, against Waterford. Christopher rushed for 295 yards and six touchdowns on just 15 carries.
Deontae Cooper (Citrus Hill, Perris): This leading all-state candidate rushed the ball for 302 yards and scored two fourth quarter touchdowns as the Hawks rang up a 28-7 win over Heritage to extend their winning streak to 36 games.
Carl Cox (Terra Nova, Pacifica): He won the personal battle with Stanford-bound Amir Carlisle and his Tigers won the game, 35-21, over visiting Sunnyvale Kings Academy. He's only 5-8, 150 but he can chew up yards and score TDs. Against the Knights, he rushed for 177 yards and four touchdowns and completed 17 of 23 passes for 175 yards and another score.
Steve Cross & Tevin Carter (Santee, Los Angeles): Cross had L.A. High all crossed up as he scored five touchdowns and rushed for 177 yards in a 60-6 rout of the Romans. The speedy Carter added six receptions and a touchdown plus a 50-yard punt return for Santee. So far this season, Carter has 39 catches for 1,080 yards and eight TDs plus two more on kick returns.
Jackson Cummings (Rocklin): Three-year starter in multiple sports thundered his way to over 25 yards per carry in unbeaten Rocklin's 46-7 win over Oakmont of Roseville. He rushed for 242 yards on just nine carries while scoring three times.
Tyrone Duckett (Encinal, Alameda): Washington State-bound defensive back who plays defense is also the Jets signal and he accounted for six scores, three on the ground and an equal number in the air, in 55-19 victory over Vallejo St. Patrick St. Vincent.
Dominick Ela (San Clemente): Quarterback Chase Rettig looked his way when the Tritons needed him the most, as he caught eight passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-28 win over two-time defending league champion Tesoro.

Garrett Fulbright (Whittier Christian): Rushed for 164 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-0 blanking of Firebaugh of Lynwood.
Ricky Galvin & Aaron Norton-Buford (Berkeley): Look for more on Galvin's accomplishments and college choice later this week, but we'll tell you he had 234 yards and four TDs in a 62-6 win over Hercules. In the same game, senior lineman Norton-Buford padded his NCS lead in sacks with three to give him 15 this season.
Donald Gandy (Rosemont, Sacramento): In a game that saw 96 points scored between the two teams, Gandy scored almost a third of those points, as he rushed for 275 yards and five touchdowns in a 64-32 win over Hiram Johnson.
Brandon Graves (Crespi, Encino): Another Celt that had a great game in defeat against Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks. Graves latched on to 11 receptions for 182 yards, including a 75-yarder and a 17-yarder that put Crespi up 21-20 with 57 seconds remaining. All the post-game attention may have centered Eric Solis' 51-yard field goal that won the game, but state player of the year candidate Ryan Kasdorf also deserves recognition for driving Notre Dame from its own 22-yard line into Solis' range.
Donell Griffin (Palm Desert): He rushed for 152 yards and five touchdowns as the Aztecs defeated Cathedral City by a 49-19 final score.
Geno Hall (Crenshaw, Los Angeles): The Shaw has not one, but two of the most explosive players in the state. DeAnthony Thomas came into the season with a lot of fanfare after earning state sophomore of the year honors, but Hall is arguably the team's MVP so far. In last week's rout of L.A. Locke, he returned kickoffs 82 and 87 yards for a touchdown and added 69 yards on punt returns. Hall is on the small side, but he's likely to land a Div. I scholarship come February.
Josh Harper (St. Mary's, Stockton): The Rams are loaded with offensive weapons and Harper's arguably the most deadly as he returned a punt 67 yards for a touchdown, rushed for a 65-yard touchdown, and caught touchdown passes of 38 and 60 yards in a 66-0 win over McNair of Stockton.
Anthony Herrera (Wilcox, Santa Clara): The Central Coast Section's leading rusher went over 200 yards for the third time this season, only this time there was no question about it being against a quality opponent. In a 49-26 victory over Milpitas, he went for 294 yards and four touchdowns and now has 1,402 yards and 18 TDs this season for the 6-2 Chargers.
David Herrman (Faith Baptist, Canoga Park): Dominated the action in a 8-man 60-8 demolition over Hillcrest Christian of Granada Hills with four receptions for 132 yards, including scoring jaunts of 71 and 31 yards. He also returned in interception eight yards for a touchdown and recovered a fumble.

On offense, he had 11 catches for 178 yards and three TDs while on defense Jiles returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the Pirates' 42-21 victory over Oakley Freedom that gets the team back to .500 at 4-4.
Joshua Jordan (Pacific Lutheran, Torrance): In an 8-man double overtime game against Cornerstone Christian of Wildomar, Jordan rushed for 245 yards and four touchdowns on 34 carries, but the score remained deadlocked at 36-36 Majestic League rules allow for no more than two overtimes. So far this season, Jordan has rushed for 1,525 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Michael Karls (Palm Springs): He led the way in the passing and running game against Coachella Valley with 125 yards in the air and three touchdowns and 88 yards on the ground and three more scores in the Indians' 53-7 win over the Aztecs.
Kevin Laird (Mission Prep, San Luis Obispo): Completing nine passes for 159 yards and one touchdown in a 41-0 win over Farmersville isn't a stat star worthy performance but it's not often you have a quarterback also playing defense and recording two interception returns for scores.
Max Leffler (Grace Brethren, Simi Valley): A narrow 14-8 halftime lead turned into a 56-14 win over Villanova Prep of Ojai as Leffler put on an aerial show that saw him complete 11 passes for 426 yards.
Rudy Lujano & Nathan Allen (Tulare Western, Tulare): Lujano had little difficulty in passing the ball against Granite Hills of Porterville in a 69-20 win as he passed for 316 yards and six touchdowns. Allen was on the tail end on three of the six touchdown tosses and finished with 176 receiving yards.
Bubba Luna & Zach Kinney (Great Oak, Temecula): Luna had a career-best night passing the ball with 313 yards and five touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to prevent a 49-37 loss to Murrieta Valley. Kinney was on the receiving end on four of Luna's five touchdown passes.
Tyler Malley (Acalanes, Lafayette): On a team with two runners over 750 yards and one at near 500 yards, it was Malley who led the way in a 35-21 victory over Dublin. The slender 5-9, 160-pound senior gained 219 yards on 33 carries with three TDs and now has 877 yards rushing this season.
Derrick Malone (Colton): In a 38-9 win against Cajon of San Bernardino that likely decided the San Andreas League championship, Malone wasted no time in giving his team the lead as he scored on an 80-yard run on the first play from scrimmage. Malone ended with 250 yards and scored four touchdowns.
Steven Manfro (Valencia): He may not have had a lot of yards but stopping him most of the time from gaining more yards was the end zone itself as Manfro ran the ball 11 times for 79 yards and four touchdowns while also catching three passes for 54 yards and a fifth score in the Vikings' 56-7 win over Hart of Newhall.
Devon Marmon (Lincoln, San Francisco): Scored three TDs in three different ways in the Mustangs' 39-14 win over cross-town Balboa. Marmon intercepted two passes and returned one 98 yards for a touchdown, caught a 60-yard TD pass and found pay dirt on a 20-yard run.
Jonny Martin (Cathedral Catholic, San Diego): The Dons' junior running back rushed for 279 yards on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 34-3 win over San Diego Patrick Henry.
Jeff Mathews (Camarillo): He had quite the first half against Channel Islands of Oxnard, as he passed for 279 yards and six touchdowns while also rushing for 46 yards in a game the Scorpions won, 68-14.
Nathan Matlock & A.J. Moore (Murrieta Valley, Murrieta): For the second week in a row he tossed five touchdowns passes and ended with 231 yards in a 49-37 win over Great Oak. Out of the backfield, Moore accounted for nearly half of Matlock's passing yards as he recorded 103 receiving yards to go with 165 rushing yards.
Adam McCurley (Washington, Easton): His performance against Chowchilla is a major reason the Panthers are in control of winning a North Sequoia League title as McCurley passed for 250 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for three scores in the 45-20 road win.
Cameron Mikell (Rio Linda): He intercepted a pass on defense but the offensive side of the ball is where he did most of his damage, rushing for 258 yards and two touchdowns in the Knights' 40-7 win over Antelope.
Darrol Mitchell (Valencia): Let the state-ranked Vikings with three sacks as Valencia recorded seven in a 57-7 Foothill League victory over Hart of Newhall.
Joshua Monroy (Calistoga): Talk about getting it done on both sides of the line of scrimmage. In a 47-0 shutout of Sacramento Cristo Rey, the senior RB/LB was a one man wrecking crew. He rushed for 167 yards with six touchdowns, while on defense the NCS's leading tackler had 19 to give him 163 so far this season to go along with seven sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Adam Muema (Charter Oak, Covina): His 194-yard and four-touchdown night running the ball was more than enough for the Chargers to get a 42-0 win over Wilson of Hacienda Heights. Muema also broke the school career rushing mark. He now has rushed for 3,458 yards and counting to surpass the school's previous record of 3,379 yards set by Jason Davis.
Akeelie Muhammad (Cypress): He has now rushed for 26 touchdowns on the year after a five-touchdown performance last Thursday as the Centurions easily defeated Katella of Anaheim, 65-11.
Darius Nacoste (Valley, Santa): Had his number called to carry the ball 31 times last Saturday as he finished with 250 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 40-21 win over Savanna of Anaheim.
Chris Navarro (St. Genevieve, Panorama City): Rushed for 239 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries to lead his team to a 48-28 victory over St. Monica of Santa Monica. He and completed nine of 19 passes for 137 yards to account for 376 total yards. St. Genevieve is now 9-0.
Casey Nielson (Gahr, Cerritos): Had another big day passing the ball as the Gladiators won an important SGVL contest, 43-21, over talented Lynwood. Nielson threw for 460 yards and five touchdowns while Shaan Johnson caught nine passes for 130 yards and had a kickoff return for a touchdown. For the game, Rosales finished with seven receptions for 178 yards as the Lancers scored all 33 of their points in the final quarter.
Sergio Salazar (Pioneer Valley, Santa Maria): He returned an interception 55 yards for a score in the second quarter and then did even better in the third quarter as he intercepted another pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown in the Panthers' 59-7 win over Santa Maria.
Drew Schettler (Valley Christian Academy, Santa Maria): On offense, Schettler shined with 204 yards rushing and four TDs in a 34-18 win vs. North County Christian of Atascadero. On defense, he added eight tackles and picked off two passes.
Ricky Seale (Escondido): He rushed for 209 yards and now holds the section career rushing record with 5,810 yards, but, it wasn't enough to prevent the Cougars from suffering a 44-24 loss to La Costa Canyon.
Justin Smith (Temple City): The only thing that stopped Smith from having a bigger night was the lights going out and forcing the game to end with six minutes remaining as he passed for three touchdowns and ran for three touchdowns in a 41-8 win over Blair of Pasadena.
Kyle Todd (San Lorenzo Valley, Felton): The power-packed 220-pounder rushed for 219 yards, scored four times and had 10 tackles on defense in a 28-28 tie against Santa Cruz. It was the second straight tie for SLV, which did manage to earn playoff advantages for winning tie-breakers in both games. For the season, Todd has 1,399 yards and 19 TDs rushing. SLV's record officially stands at a bizarre 3-3-3.
Isaac Valdez (San Gabriel): Returned to form after missing a game with injury as he completed 22 of 36 passes for 324 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-14 victory over Alhambra. He went over the 2,000 yard passing mark for the season and has thrown 14 touchdown passes.

Anthony Wilkerson (Tustin): El Modena knew going into the game that it needed to try and stop the Stanford-bound running back if it had any hopes of winning, but that didn't materialize. The former State Boys Athlete of the Week rushed for 293 yards and four touchdowns in a 54-0 win.
DaVonte Young (Irvine): He may be just a freshman, but Young now holds the school record for rushing yards in a game as he ran for 374 yards and scored five touchdowns as the Vaqueros picked up a 49-34 Pacific Coast League win over San Juan Hills.
