Sam Atoe (Maria Carrillo, Santa Rosa): Scored three touchdowns rushing, intercepted a pass and returned it for a fourth score, and recorded 17 tackles in the Pumas' 74-14 win over Elsie Allen.
Brett Bartolone (La Habra): Bartolone scored more touchdowns than Sonora of La Habra had points last Friday, as he caught three touchdown passes while gaining 177 yards and ran for another score as the Highlanders defeated their cross-town rival, 32-3.
Dillon Baxter (Mission Bay, San Diego): Mr. Do-It-All was mostly a runner in the Bucs' 48-14 win over San Diego Hoover. He carried the ball 19 times and racked up 314 yards and five TDs. Baxter normally adds a bunch of yards passing, but in this one he had just 57 yards, although he did complete two TD passes.
Deshawn Beck (Jordan, Los Angeles): Do-it-all performer completed six of sight passes for 49 yards and a score in addition to rushing for plus rushed for 98 yards on 17 carries in JoHi's 20-13 Eastern League victory over South East of South Gate. The two schools are actually separated only by historic Alameda Boulevard and the train tracks that zoomed through the area in Los Angeles' formal years.
Devon Blackledge (St. Bonaventure, Ventura): The Seraphs will be in the Marmonte League next year, but Buena of Ventura still had to face them Friday night as Blackledge ran for 309 yards and two scores while also catching three passes for 92 yards and a touchdown in a 44-29 St. Bonnie win.
Chris Brown (San Joaquin Memorial, Fresno): He ran the ball just eight times, but two of those carries went for big gains as he scored on runs of 88 yards and 70 yards to lead the Panthers to a 28-0 win over Madera South. In all, Brown racked up 226 yards on the night.
Antonio Bumpers (Inderkum, Sacramento): He's one of the big reasons that the Tigers are undefeated at 7-0 as Bumpers rushed for 300 yards and four scores in a 41-28 win over Pioneer of Woodland.
Te'Shon Burton (Leuzinger, Lawndale): Completed 18 of 28 passes for 312 yards and three TDs during a 28-0 win over Peninsula of Rolling Hills Estates. Denzel Idris was his main target as he caught eight passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns. So far this season, Burton has completed 120-of-190 passes for 2,000 yards and 18 TDs. Also getting into the act for the Olympians was Ike McCullough, who intercepted two passes, one he returned 47 yards for six.
Devontae Butler (Grant, Sacramento): Almost half of his carries ended in six points on Friday in a 85-0 win over Sacramento Kennedy, as Butler carried the ball 11 times for 246 yards and five touchdowns before watching the second half from the sidelines.
Jesse Callier (Warren, Downey): Helped the Bears up their record to 6-1 with a 294-yard, three touchdown performance in a 38-21 victory over talented Lynwood. So far this season, Callier has rushed for over 200 yards four times and has 1,781 yards and 24 touchdowns plus a scholarship to the University of Washington. For good measure, it was Warren's homecoming and Callier was named Homecoming King at halftime.
Darrian Cazarin (Alhambra): Finished with 335 yards passing and three touchdowns on 20 of 29 attempts during a 32-27 victory over Montebello.
Adam Coleman (Burbank): Signal-caller accounted for six touchdowns in Burbank's 48-13 victory over Hoover of Glendale. He threw four touchdown passes and finished with 262 yards passing. He also hit pay dirt on two short quarterback sneaks.
Christian Crichton (Arroyo Grande): He made sure the Eagles wouldn't be Lompoc's first win of the season, as he rushed for 251 yards on 17 carries and scored two touchdowns in the 41-12 win.
K.J. Cusack (St. Joseph's, Santa Maria): He had just 29 yards at halftime, but a monster second half with three touchdowns. Cusack finished with 236 yards as the Knights rode his rushing attack to a 21-13 win over Pioneer Valley. One of Cusack's runs came on a state-record tying 99-yard run.
Chad Dashnaw (Narbonne, Harbor City): Tossed five touchdown passes in a 77-14 Gauchos' victory over Washington Prep of Los Angeles. The transfer from Vasquez of Acton finished the game with 304 yards passing.
Todd Davis (Costa Mesa): He led the Mustangs to a 42-6 win over Godinez of Santa Ana as he passed for a career best 304 yards and five touchdowns.
Eric DeAnda (Merced): The Bears had a rough start to the season with losses in their first four games, but they have now won three straight as DeAnda rushed for 197 yards and five touchdowns in a 55-20 win over Golden Valley of Merced.
Abraham Delgado (Caruthers): His last name may not be Lincoln but on the field against Parlier he was in charge, rushing for 212 yards and four touchdowns in a Blue Raiders' 45-9 win in a West Sequoia League opener.
Danny Diekroeger (Menlo School, Atherton): The leader in the Central Coast Section and No. 4 reported passer in the state, and standout baseball player, completed 28 of 47 passes for 451 yards and five TDs in a 42-34 win over San Mateo. He now has 2,185 yards passing and 20 TDs on the season.
Ryan Dimino (Del Campo, Fair Oaks): Running or throwing the ball, he was a threat against Mira Loma of Sacramento as he ran for 216 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 59 yards and another score in a 30-6 victory.
Tyrone Duckett (Encinal, Alameda): He's going to Washington State as a DB, but for the Jets he plays quarterback as well. In a 34-27 win over Berkeley St. Mary's, the 5-0, 205-pounder threw for three TDs and rushed for 190 yards and another score.
Brian Dworkin (Rancho Cotate, Rohnert Park): The diminutive but solid 5-7, 160-pound junior running back had 19 carries for 214 yards and three TDs and threw a halfback option pass for a fourth score in the Cougars' 42-7 win over Ukiah. It was Dworkin's third 200-yard game of the season after he went for 209 yards and four TDs two week's ago against Santa Rosa Elsie Allen. He now has 954 yards and 12 TDs rushing this season.
Kevin Ervin (Poly, Sun Valley): A week after trouncing Van Nuys, 74-0, Poly was at it again as they routed winless Verdugo Hills of Tujunga, 77-0. On only eight carries, Ervin led the way with 209 yards and six touchdowns. So far this season, Ervin has rushed for 1,458 yards and 19 touchdowns on only 103 carries, a 14.2 yards per carry average.
Cody Fajardo (Servite, Anaheim): Used his feet and arm to help the Friars defeat archrival Mater Dei of Santa Ana. The senior quarterback completed 10 of 12 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for an additional 141 yards and a score on 12 carries as Servite beat the Monarchs for the first time since 1988, or before Fajardo was born.
Kris Farinha (St. Vincent, Petaluma): The school's all-time leading rusher didn't quite hit the 200-yard mark, but he got 196 with three TDs in a 42-6 home victory over Clear Lake. The 5-10, 195-pound senior RB/LB also had 15 tackles and forced a fumble on defense. For the season, Farinha now has 1,072 yards on 131 carries with 12 TDs. His career total is 3,001 yards.
Isaias Flores & Josh Lauese (Sequoia, Redwood City): It didn't make any difference that the first and second string quarterbacks were out with injuries in first-year Coach Rob Poulos' spread option offense. Flores, a 6-1, 195-pound junior, and the third string quarterback, came on in the second quarter and rushed for 233 yards and three TDs in a 33-6 win over Capuchino of San Bruno. Sophomore 5-10, 190-pound tailback Lauese, added 171 yards on six carries as Sequoia rolled up 503 rushing yards.
Lester Fontanette (Madison, San Diego): He only played the first half of the Warhawks' 49-24 triumph against San Diego High, but accounted for 262 yards and four TDs. Fontanette completed 6 of 13 passing for 146 yards and three TDs and rushed for 116 yards and one TD on just six carries.
Bronson Gonzalez (Morro Bay): B.G. was huge on both sides of the ball in a 41-20 win over Santa Maria as he rushed for 182 yards and scored two touchdowns and had an interception plus 17 tackles on defense.
Clay Guess (Capistrano Valley): It wasn't hard to guess what play the Cougars were going to run most of the time as they handed it to Guess 33 times and he ended up with 304 yards rushing in a 28-25 win over Aliso Niguel of Aliso Viejo.
Joseph Hill (Fullerton): He stands a good chance of reaching 1,000 rushing yards in the next game as Hill rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns in a 55-6 win over Buena Park. Hill improved his totals on the year to 953 yards with 19 touchdowns.
Nick Hirschman (Los Gatos): The 6-3, 220-pound Colorado-bound signal caller had his best outing of the season last week against visiting Saratoga, passing for 413 yards on 12 of 17 with five touchdowns in a 47-0 victory. So far in a 6-1 season, with a lone loss to Mountain View St. Francis, Hirschman has totaled 1,719 yards passing with 22 TDs and no interceptions. He's also rushed for almost 100 yards, caught a pass and punted for a 37-plus-yard average.
Nick Isham (Westlake, Westlake Village): Completed 15 of 19 passes, including a 26-yard scoring strike to Nelson Spruce with under five minutes to play that turned out to be the game-winner, in a 31-27 road victory over Newbury Park. Isham accounted for well over 300 yards, as he finished with 263 yards passing and scored two touchdowns on the ground, including a 60-yard run to pay dirt. In a losing effort, Newbury Park's Jake Geringer passed for 300 yards on 26 of 37 pass attempts. Westlake is now 7-0 while Newbury Park is now 2-2 in Marmonte League play.
Alec Jaffe (Laguna Beach): The Breakers entered their game against Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana with just two wins on the year, but Jaffe did all he could do make sure that it would be three by the end of the game with 286 yards rushing and four touchdowns in a 56-24 victory.
Jakari Johnson (Castlemont, Oakland): Carried the ball 34 times for 251 yards and two TDs in a 20-10 win over Oakland Athletic League rival Skyline.
Terris Jones (California, Whittier): Went wild in Cal-Hi's 35-17 win over El Rancho of Pico Rivera with 279 yards rushing. He lugged the leather 25 times and scored on runs of 88, 10, 18 and 31 yards.
Keith Lawson & Zack Rivera (Beckman, Irvine): The rushing duo was virtually unstoppable against San Juan Hills, as Lawson rushed for 254 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries while Rivera also hit the 200-yard with 222 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-7 win.
Ricky Lawson & Austin McBroom (Campbell Hall, North Hollywood): Helped his team shut out Brentwood of Los Angeles, 31-0, by coming up with three interceptions. The Vikings forced five turnovers in all and upped their record to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the Alpha League. Grid-Hoop standout McBroom returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a score and added a 90-yard punt return touchdown in the second half.
Jason Lee, Corey Keller & Javon Kelly (Downey, Modesto): It was another week and another aerial display put on by the Knights as Lee completed 33 of 48 passes for 485 yards and six touchdowns in a 56– 32 win over Beyer. Keller led the way with 13 catches for 229 yards and one touchdown while Kelly found the end zone four times on his eight catches that went 167 yards.
Cody Lowe & Brent Moyer (Fort Bragg): Even though the Timberwolves lost their first game of the season, 49-41, to Middletown, Lowe & Moyer came to play. Low had 15 tackles with one interception and caught 10 passes for a school record 175 yards and two TDs. Moyer also set a school record with 348 passing yards. He completed 23 of 34 passes and had four TDs with one interception.
Steven Manfro (Valencia): Led the state-ranked Vikings to a 49-0 victory over Golden Valley of Santa Clarita by rushing for four touchdowns and catching a pass from QB Alex Bishop for another score.
Sean Mannion (Foothill, Pleasanton): The Oregon State-bound signal caller's team notched a win in the ESPNU televised matchup of Pac-10-bound quarterbacks, as the 6-5, 208-pound Mannion completed 29 of 43 passes for 390 yards and four TDs in a 41-37 win over Danville Monte Vista and UCLA-bound Brett Nottingham.
Marcus McDade (St. Mary's, Stockton): Stagg put on a nice display of offense to try and keep up with the Rams, but all it did was allow the Rams' offensive starters to play more and continue to put points on the scoreboard. McDade passed for 257 yards and five touchdowns while also running for a touchdown in their 85-40 win.
Tanner Mendonca (Mt. Whitney, Visalia): His arm got quite the workout on Friday as he passed the ball 46 times and completed 29 of those passes for 358 yards and two touchdowns in a 13-12 overtime win over Lemoore.
Harold Mobley (Roosevelt, Eastvale): He is well regarded for his ability to catch the ball, but against Poly of Riverside he made his first start at quarterback and was impressive, completing 8 of 12 passes for 254 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 81 yards and two scores in a 46-10 win.
Michael Mook (Piner, Santa Rosa): Piner got its first win of the season and Mook was cooking, acting like a Whirling Dervish on defense in a 17-11 victory against Santa Rosa. From his linebacker position, Mook had 14 tackles with two sacks and two forced fumbles. Plus, he had an interception return 30 yards for a touchdown, and recovered a fumble and returned it 60 yards.
Akeelie Muhammad (Cypress): He ran for more than double the century mark against Loara of Anaheim, as he rushed for 288 yards and five touchdowns in the Centurions' 55-13 win to stay unbeaten in Empire League play.
Richard Mullaney (Thousand Oaks): Caught 14 passes good for 220 yards receiving in a 42-13 T.O. victory over Calabasas. Three of his 14 receptions went for six points.
Casey Nielsen (Gahr, Cerritos): It's beginning to become a broken record as Nielsen passed for over 300 yards yet again for the Gladiators. This week, his yardage total was 360 yards and he added four touchdowns as Gahr beat Dominguez of Compton, 27-21.
Brett Nottingham & Bryce McGovern (Monte Vista, Danville): Nottingham, the UCLA-bound NCS leader and No. 3 reported passer in the state, completed 26 of 43 passes for 396 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-37 loss to Pleasanton Foothill. Wide receiver McGovern, the leading pass catcher in the section and state, had 13 receptions for 272 yards but couldn't find pay dirt.
Preston Oliver (Marshall, Los Angeles): In Northern League play, Oliver the Great rushed for 270 yards and two scores to lead the Barristers to a 28-0 victory over L.A. Lincoln. Many long-time observers feel Oliver is the school's best-ever back.
Trevor Olson (Cathedral, Los Angeles): Had another big day for the phantoms with 438 yards passing in a 46-10 Del Rey League victory over St. Bernard of Playa del Rey. Olson completed 27 of 40 passes and threw three touchdowns for a team that is now 7-0.
Tyler Perry (Buena, Ventura): An eight-catch night for 119 yards and three touchdowns by the Oregon State-bound tight end wasn't enough to prevent a 44-29 loss to St. Bonaventure.
Jared Puamau (Mills, Millbrae): The Vikings might be 1-5-1, but not for lack of effort from this 5-10, 170-pound senior running back. Last week, he rushed for 250 yards and four TDs and accounted for 454 all-purpose yards in a 36-36 tie with El Camino of South San Francisco.
Pat Rawlins (Colfax): He only had 15 carries, but it was enough for him to rush for 279 yards and break the Falcons' school record for rushing yards in a game. He also scored three touchdowns in the 49-20 win over El Dorado of Placerville.
Ricky Seale (Escondido): In getting warmed up for the big game this week against La Costa Canyon, Seale broke out for 251 yards on 28 carries and scored three TDs to lead his team past Fallbrook, 30-10. For the season, the all-state candidate now had 1,384 yards and 20 TDs.
Derron Smith (Banning): Accounted for over 312 all-purpose yards in leading the Broncos to a 27-20 win over previously unbeaten San Jacinto. Smith rushed for 87 yards on 16 carries, including a TD run of 8 yards. He also passed for 113 more yards. On defense, he contributed 13 tackles, including two for loss, and had two interceptions, including one that he returned 35 yards for a score. On top of that, Smith also returned a punt 79 yards for another touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Nelson Spruce (Westlake, Westlake Village): He continues to be the go to guy in the passing game for the still unbeaten Warriors as he caught nine passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns, which included the game-winner, in a 31-27 win over Newbury Park.
Matt Walker & Victor Ojeda (Sacred Heart Prep, Atherton): The senior 5-11, 175-pound Walker led the way with 214 yards rushing and four TDs on 21 carries in the Gators' 42-17 win over rival Sunnyvale Kings Academy. Ojeda was right behind him, with two trips to pay dirt and 182 yards on the ground on 13 rushes.
Isaac Valdez (San Gabriel): With just a four-point lead at halftime, Valdez helped turn it into a convincing 49-28 win at Bell Gardens as he passed for 407 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 93 yards and a score.
Cameron Villalobos (Redlands): The Terriers moved to 4-0 in Citrus Belt League play as Villalobos rushed for 125 yards and all five of their touchdowns in a 35-13 win over Yucaipa.
