Who's Hot: Leland (San Jose)
It's been more than 15 years since we've seen the Chargers in person and that was when the late, great Pat Tillman was playing there. The connection to Tillman always gives Leland a special place in California prep football lore, but the current group of Chargers are doing a good job of gaining some attention as well. On Friday night, Leland improved to 6-1 with a 26-12 victory over Oak Grove of San Jose and got past the Eagles for the first time in 19 years. Running back Jon Ruel piled up 131 yards rushing on nine carries to lead the offense while quarterback Alex Gonzalez tossed a pair of scoring passes. Leland's only loss so far has been by just 41-34 to Scotts Valley.

Who's Not: Tesoro (Rancho Santa Margarita)
A year ago, when the Titans took on Mission Viejo they roared with a 31-14 victory that signaled they were for real as one of the top teams in the state. Last Friday, when the two met again in a South Coast League contest, it was not a pretty sight as the Diablos trampled the Titans, 60-14. Tesoro went on to finish 13-1 last season, getting all the way to the CIF Southern Section Pac-Five final and sending Matt Barkley off to USC with a playoff win over Mater Dei. Although QB Brett Mason has had some very good outings, Tesoro fell to 3-4 after the loss to Mission. The good news is that the team has already played the top two teams in the league so winning regular season is still probable.
