Sooners add to their history as most frequent No. 1 team

Oklahoma's ascension to the top spot in the Associated Press poll provides the Sooners with their 96th week at the top of the poll, moving them into first place among all teams. They were tied with Notre Dame before Sunday's announcement.

Here's a look at how many times the Big 12 teams have been ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll, broken down before the start of the Big 12 in 1996 and during the Big 12 history for each school:
