Colorado not only has the only father-son head coach-starting quarterback combination in the Big 12 this season with Coach Dan Hawkins and his son, Cody. The Buffaloes also have another player on their roster with a similarly famous relative.
Colorado sophomore middle linebacker David Goldberg is the nephew of former professional wrestling champion Bill Goldberg.
After first attending Penn State as an invited walk-on player in 2006, Goldberg transferred to Colorado to be closer to his home in Aspen, Colo. While attending high school there, David Goldberg was an all-state football player and an all-conference player in hockey.
Besides his uncle, several other members of Goldberg's family have athletic backgrounds. His father, Michael, and his uncle, Steve, both played college football at Minnesota. And his grandfather, Jed Goldberg played college football at Harvard.
His uncle was nicknamed "Da Man" and "The Bull" during his illuistrious wrestling career. Earlier, he played college football at Georgia and later played with the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers.
But it's not known if his nephew has any ability to pin opponents after utilizing a jackhammer or a spear move like his uncle.
