The Raiders have not given the NFL any indications that they will be filing tampering charges against the New England Patriots regarding the Randy Moss trade in April 2007.
In a press conference at the NFL owners meetings in St. Petersburg, Florida today, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about the situation. On Sept. 30, Al Davis, after his memorable press conference to announce the firing of Lane Kiffin as the Raiders' head coach, spoke to reporters on several topics. One of the topics was the trade of Moss. He claimed the Patriots tampered prior to the trade.
Yet, in the 19 months between the trade and the press conference, the Raiders hadn't filed tampering charges. Goodell confirmed Tuesday that the league sent the Raiders a letter saying if they are going to file tampering charges, they should do it. If not, Goodell didn't want to hear about charges in public. He said the Raiders in turn have indicated no charges will be filed.
