Will there be more firings in the AFC West?

We're still trying to digest the wild ride in Oakland in which Lane Kiffin was fired after several weeks of being on the hot seat. There are factions in other AFC West cities who want to see ownership pull the trigger just as Al Davis did last week.

In Kansas City, some of the natives want to see general manager Carl Peterson get the axe. There is even a website taking petitions, imploring the Hunt family to fire Peterson, who has been with the team since 1989.

In San Diego, fan websites are calling for the head of coach Norv Turner after San Diego's slow start. It is the second time in as many years under Turner that the Chargers have stumbled early.

My take: I'm not surprised. Fans always want drastic changes at the top when their team loses but I don't expect anything to be done now or after the season.

Kansas City ownership has been behind Peterson. The organization knew that things would be tough this year as the youth movement continues. In San Diego, the Chargers rebounded last season from a slow start and this season's 2-3 Chargers could do the same thing.

So, even though some fan are getting restless, don't expect another firing in the division in the coming weeks.
