Claim to fame: He turned backup Matt Cassel into a standout in 2008 after superstar Tom Brady was lost for the season in Week 1.

Why he was hired: The Broncos want more points and they want quarterback Jay Cutler to continue to improve.

What to expect: McDaniels is innovative and he's a thinker. Expect a very calm, organized approach.

His biggest challenge: He needs to get Denver's defense fixed. The Broncos' offense is close but the Denver defense needs an overhaul.

Did you know: He played high school football with Denver defensive end Kenny Peterson in Ohio.
