Denver rookie report

I wanted to catch up with some of Denver's lower profile rookies as I have done with the three other AFC West teams in the past couple of weeks.

Top picks Ryan Clady, who will start at left tackle, and Eddie Royal, who has blossomed into the No. 2 receiver, have been well documented. Here is a look at some of the Denver rookies who have opened eyes this summer:

Cornerback Jack Williams: The fourth-round pick is a playmaker. He is very competitive and is a ball hawk. He had 20 takeaways in his career at Kent State. He could help on special teams as a rookie.

Safety Josh Barrett: The seventh-round pick from Arizona State has made some plays during camp. He could be on the bubble but the team likes his potential.

Fullback Peyton Hillis: The lead blocker for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones at Arkansas is a rugged player. The team loves him for the future. He is a tough, hard-nosed winner. In max-protection situations, Hillis could find himself on the field.

Undrafted free agents, tailback Anthony Alridge, linebacker Wesley Woodyard and punter Bern Kern, have all made legitimate pushes to make the roster as well.
