Here is another mailbag installment.
Note to Kansas City fans: Don't get mad that I am not answering any Chiefs' questions. I don't have any to answer. There are plenty of interesting things happening with the Chiefs. Let's get those questions in.
Thanks, BW.
Owen: Is there any chance that the Chargers will use more of Legedu Naanee in their offense this year? The few times he got to play last season he created a lot of match up problems for defenses and always seemed to make a big play. What are your thoughts?
BW: I think so, Owen. Naanee will get more playing time for exactly the reasons you detailed in your question. With Antonio Gates likely out to start the season, Naanee will get a chance to play more. There are a lot of people in the Chargers' organization that think this player has just scratched the surface and will be an impact player. That, of course, will be bad news for the rest of the AFC West. The last thing they need is another offense a weapon in San Diego.

Tyler: Bill, What can you tell us about how Peyton Hillis is doing in Broncos camp?
BW: Hillis, Denver's seventh-round pick, as in banged up in camp with a hamstring injury. But the Broncos like him in the long term. Hillis, best known as the lead blocker for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones at Arkansas, needs to get back on the field, but he should make the team.

John: Bill, I am a life long raider fan, who is realistic regarding where the raiders are as a contending franchise. That being said, where do you see the biggest need for this years team? I know there are several holes to fill, but what area should be the priority? I Look forward to your professional insight!
BW: John, I think the Raiders have a few big goals. There is concern about the tackles and receivers on offense. They were be problems last year. It doesn't seem like they've been adequately filled this season. Not so far, at least. On defense, Oakland can be very good in pass defense, but can it improve the run defense? Oakland will show improvement this year and will be more entertaining. I get the feeling that there will still be some holes from last year that could cause problems.

Medford: Would really like to know your thoughts on Andrew Walter,is he #2 or #3. I would like to see him as a nuber 2. I believe he can be a good quarterback, but has been put in behind a not so good offensive line.
BW: Walter has missed the last couple days in Oakland because of tired arm, but he's been a standout at the Raiders' camp so far. He is not going to supplant Russell anytime soon, but Walters should vie to be a capable No. 2 quarterback.

John: Everyone is ruling out Denver for the playoffs, they seem to have a decently soft schedule, and most think Cutler will have a very strong year. It seems we improved in most positions on our team. What do you guess to be the regular season record for this team? Oh, and the Chiefs suck.
BW: There are a lot of holes in this team that makes people skeptical that the Broncos can be a team that needs to prove a lot things before adding get excited about them. I think Denver, at this point, will hover around the seven or eight win mark.

Seth: Does the average fan know how good Antonio Cromartie is?
BW: If they don't know now, they will know soon, Seth. Cromartie made the Pro bowl last year after leading the NFL 10 interceptions. This week, he talked about getting 15 interceptions this year. If that happens, Seth, you will have no worries about Cromartie been under the radar anymore. ________________________________________
Michael: How concerned should Chargers fans be about the knees of starting NT Jamal Williams? Everybody saw the Chargers run defense exposed by AP and the Vikings when Williams is less than %100 and sits out some plays, or even a possesion.
BW: I think Chargers fan should be moderately concerned. You're right, Michael, Williams is the backbone of the Chargers run defense. If he is missing, it is not a special run stopping defense. Williams is 32 and he may to need to take more time off than in the past. So, it is surely something to watch in San Diego.
Thanks and keeping them coming, especially you, Kansas City fans.
