DAVIE, Fla. -- Even though the Miami Dolphins linebacker hasn't taken a snap in nearly two weeks, Joey Porter's season just got a little better.
| Joey Porter: By the Numbers | | Last 16 Games | Season high, year | | Tackles | 70 | 89 in 2002 | | Sacks | 10.5 | 10.5 in 2000, 2005 | | Interceptions | 2 | 4 in 2002 | Note: Made Pro Bowl with Steelers in 2002, 2004, 2005 Compiled by ESPN Research | | |
The NFL on Thursday awarded Porter a fourth sack from the Dolphins' victory over the New England Patriots in Week 3.
He now has five sacks for the season, one behind Atlanta Falcons defensive end John Abraham for the NFL lead. The Dolphins, coming off a bye, have played only three games.
The adjustment came after a review from the Elias Sports Bureau determined a 1-yard run and fumble by Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel should be turned into a sack. Elias ruled Porter had forced the fumble before Cassel reached the line of scrimmage for a sack with no yards lost.
Porter's four-sack game matches a personal best and is one shy of the Dolphins team record.
Despite a maddening first season with Miami in 2007, Porter has kicked his game into high gear. Over his past 16 games, he has recorded 10.5 sacks, which would equal his best season.
