Buffalo Bills third-string quarterback Gibran Hamdan spoke with reporters Wednesday about concussed starter Trent Edwards.

Hamdan provided the first real insight into how Edwards is recuperating from the wicked hit he absorbed from safety Adrian Wilson in Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Hamdan and Edwards are close. BuffaloBills.com reporter Chris Brown featured their sidekick friendship last week with an article headlined "Edwards' right-hand man."

Edwards has been to the Bills facility for medical treatment but mostly has been convalescing at home. He hasn't practiced or taken part in film study, but the Bills are on their bye week.

Here's the transcript of Hamdan's interview at the Bills facility in Orchard Park, N.Y.

How is Trent doing?

Hamdan: I haven't talked to him yet today. I'm heading over there after this, but I talked to him and he seemed to be doing all right at the time. I don't think there's anything that's bothering him. It's just kind of a day-to-day process, where he's just going through the motions, trying to do all of the things that he would regularly do in whatever capacity he can do them.

I've tried to stay away a little bit. He and his sister have just been spending time together. I think he's just trying to get back on a day-to-day schedule where he's doing the things he always does.

Is Edwards experiencing any post-concussion syndrome symptoms?

Hamdan: I couldn't even write for you what post-concussion syndrome is, to be honest. So I'm not at liberty to say. Like I said, I don't even know what that is. I haven't talked to him about those things. I've made a point when I have talked to him just to be like 'Hey, what's up? How are you doing?' Just talk to him about the weather or something.

I think the last thing -- if I was in that situation -- I would be wanting to talk about is my symptoms. So, like I said, I haven't talked to him about that. I think he's trying to get onto a normal schedule as much as possible. So anyone that goes over there to say 'hi' to him is just trying to probably aid in that direction.

Is Edwards frustrated by not being able to watch film and practice?

Hamdan: Both of us like practice and like film. But at the same time a couple different days off never hurt anybody. I haven't asked him that specific question. I'm sure there's a part of him, being a captain and coming off of a disappointing loss, that would have loved to be in here and kind of getting back to work in that regard. But at the same time, a couple days off for him and for all of us coming into the bye week is going to serve us well. There's juxtaposition between those two things. It's tough because obviously he's a captain and wants to be here, and he's that type of person. But at the same time he probably understands that it's probably in his best interest.

Is Edwards trying to get updates on what's going on at practice without him?

Hamdan: No, no. Like I said, I'm not even trying to give him details. I haven't talked to him about football, and that's on purpose. It's probably the only time during the year that we'll not talk about football during the week. So he's going to enjoy it. He's probably enjoying not having to deal with me talking about football all of the time.

Does Edwards seem all right?

Hamdan: Yeah, he seems fine to me at the moment.

Does Trent seem like himself?

Hamdan: Yeah, yeah. He's himself, but he just doesn't want to talk as much, basically. When he talks, in that regard, it's been good. Like I said, I've tried to keep it at a minimum, and not have him talk as much. You don't want him to have to talk as much because that's just how I would feel. When I got banged up against Detroit for half a second, when I went home that night, my parents knew not to talk to me that much. You kind of let the person talk as much as they want to. So I think that's how all of us are handling it.
