Buffalo Bills left tackle Jason Peters, holding out for a new contract, apparently is willing to forfeit regular-season paychecks of about $191,000 a week to make his point.

NFL Network insider Adam Schefter is reporting Peters doesn't intend to report in time for Buffalo's Sept. 7 season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

Shefter didn't cite a source in his sideline report from tonight's game between the Bills and Indianapolis Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Thanks to the greatest technology known to mankind, DVR, here is what Schefter had to say:

Buffalo has a very interesting situation on their hands. Their Pro Bowl left tackle, Jason Peters, has not shown up to training camp -- nor does he plan to any time soon. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills refuse to negotiate to give him a new contract until he shows up in camp.

It's a stalemate that doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon. Right now, Peters is planning not to be there for the opener, and it's going to be a situation that looks like it could go on for a while.

Peters is looking for a new deal because he established himself as one of the NFL's premier left tackles last year but is the third-highest-paid offensive lineman on his team behind Derrick Dockery and Langston Walker.

The Bills are refusing to budge because Walker still has three years left on a contract that already has been renegotiated once and pays him a maximum of $4 million a season. He was an undrafted tight end the Bills converted to tackle.
