More bowl thoughts: One clarification, lots of confusion

First, my bad for sending Wake Forest to the Eagle Bank Bowl in my earlier predictions. I didn't know there was a clause in that contract that prevents Navy from playing any rematches. So that eliminates Wake Forest.

Consider Miami and NC State the top choices for the Eagle Bank Bowl. Before we figure out where NC State will wind up, though, the NCAA has to figure out how it views Clemson.

The ACC is hoping to find out today whether the NCAA regards Clemson as a six-win team or a seven-win team. The whole reason Clemson had to reach the seven-win mark for bowl eligibility was because the NCAA only allows one win over an FCS school to count toward bowl eligibility. Clemson had two -- wins over South Carolina State and The Citadel.

This is important because the six-win team is the one that gets farmed out to the at-large bid. That will either be Clemson or NC State.

As soon as everyone figures this out, I'll let you know and do updated bowl projections.

Here is one more thought for you, though -- DON'T count out Georgia Tech for the Chick-fil-A Bowl just because they're local. That might be exactly what that bowl needs, considering how LSU and South Carolina are struggling. If there was a year for it to make sense, this would be it.

Georgia Tech, FSU, Boston College and Virginia Tech are all on the Chick-fil-A Bowl's short list.

Boston College Eagles, Clemson Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Miami Hurricanes, Virginia Tech Hokies, Eagle Bank Bowl, Chick-fil-A Bowl
