Virginia -- Al Groh was right. The Cavaliers played well in all phases of the game -- offense, defense, special teams and coaching. Somebody had to get these guys ready to play after scoring just three points against Duke, and the Cavaliers responded with a 31-0 shutout of Maryland.

Florida State's offensive line
-- The young Seminoles got very good very quickly under Rick Trickett. They paved the way for both running back Antone Smith and quarterback Christian Ponder, and it was the difference in their 41-39 win over Miami.

Boston College quarterback Chris Crane -- He accounted for five touchdowns -- five -- in the Eagles' 38-31 win over NC State. He finished with 428 yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception. And he did it one week after his future as the leader of the offense was in question.

Georgia Tech's defense -- Coach Paul Johnson said it was their best performance of the season, and the 27-0 shutout of Duke was the Blue Devils' first scoreless game since 2006. Duke, a team that was averaging 30.8 points through its first four games, was held to 132 yards.

North Carolina -- It's impossible to single one person out. The defense held the nation's leading rusher in check and had three interceptions. Bruce Carter blocked three punts, one which resulted in a touchdown. And Shawn Draughn rushed for a career-high 109 yards and a touchdown. It was a group effort in knocking off Connecticut, 38-12.
