UNC receiver Hakeem Nicks set a single-season school record with 74 receptions last season.

North Carolina junior wide receiver Hakeem Nicks isn't exactly shy about his potential. Asked Sunday if he is the best receiver in the ACC, Nicks said you could definitely make an argument for it. He set the single-season school record with 74 receptions for 958 yards and five touchdowns last season, but is second to Clemson's Aaron Kelly among active ACC players in receptions.

"You can't take nothing away from Aaron Kelly, he's nice too," Nicks said. "By the end of the season, I plan on coming out on top, I'll say that."

As a group, though, Nicks said there's no doubt the Tar Heels have the best receiving corps in the league.

"With the numbers that we put up and we've got coming back -- we've got [Brandon] Tate coming back, one of the most elusive guys in the ACC in my opinion, Brooks Foster, one of the guys you don't hear about as much, but if you're sleeping on him, he'll wrap up on you. And of course, everybody already knows about me and what I can do."

And of course, I had to then ask him: "I'm sorry, who are you again?"

Nicks laughed.

"She got me," he said. "That was a good one."

Only because Nicks is good enough back up his talk.
